Job Title: Head of Sports Science & Performance (First Team)

Role Overview:
This role is responsible for the delivery of evidence-based training interventions, performance monitoring, and individualised strength & conditioning programmes to enhance First Team performance and reduce injury risk. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the club's on-pitch success, contributing both strategically and operationally.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, analyse, and present training/match performance data using athlete monitoring systems (e.g. GPS, RPE, Catapult)
Design and lead warm-ups, endurance, and speed sessions aligned with weekly training plans
Implement tailored gym and field-based S&C programmes with a focus on injury prevention and athletic development
Lead rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols in partnership with the medical department
Collaborate with the team chef and nutrition providers to ensure optimal dietary provision
Conduct fitness testing using technologies such as NordBord and ForceDecks
Liaise with national team medical staff regarding international players
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of player physical data
Support performance-related research and drive continuous improvement in practice
Stay up-to-date with developments in sport science and apply best practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential
BSc in Sport Science or a related field
Emergency First Aid & FA BFAS or IFAS
FA Safeguarding Children Certificate
Enhanced DBS check
Desirable
MSc in Sport Science or related field
UKSCA Accreditation
FA Level 2 / UEFA C Licence (or working towards)
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Proven experience working with senior professional football players
Background in supporting young professionals in elite environments
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Proficiency in athlete monitoring systems (e.g. Rivalists) and Microsoft Office
Ability to design, deliver, and evaluate integrated sports science programmes
