COMMERCIAL DIGITAL MANAGER: ENGLAND RUGBY

About the Role

With the Women’s Rugby World Cup taking place in England this year, this is a particularly exciting time to join the RFU. An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and strategic Commercial Digital Manager to join the RFU’s Marketing team on a permanent basis.

This role offers a unique chance to help shape the future of rugby in England by maximising the commercial value of the RFU’s digital ecosystem. As the RFU continues to evolve into a data-driven, user-centric governing body, the Commercial Digital Manager will play a critical role in optimising digital inventory, activating brand partnerships, and delivering innovative campaigns that benefit both the organisation and its partners.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Activation

  • Champion the commercial value of the RFU’s digital platforms to current and potential partners.

  • Act as the lead point of contact for commercial digital activation across internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate branded content, paid media and fan engagement campaigns.

  • Collaborate with analytics and consumer engagement teams to optimise campaign performance and audience segmentation.

  • Conceptualise, plan, and deliver cross-channel digital assets for sponsors and internal stakeholders (e.g. ticketing, retail, memberships).

Digital Rights

  • Develop new digital rights and sponsorship packages in partnership with internal teams including content, commercial, consumer engagement and technology.

  • Support business development by shaping digital rights propositions for sponsor pitches and renewals.

Branded Content

  • Bridge content and partnerships teams to develop and deliver engaging branded content formats.

Measurement & Reporting

  • Provide regular digital performance reports to partners, licensees and retailers.

  • Evaluate and track the commercial value of digital assets.

  • Contribute to business development by identifying KPIs for digital rights.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Marketing, Commercial and Technology departments.

  • Navigate internal RFU processes across multiple stakeholder groups.

Essential Criteria

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of the paid media landscape and how agencies, media owners and brands interact.

  • Proven experience in sports sponsorship activation, with exposure to business development processes preferred.

  • Demonstrable experience in content planning and delivery within a partnership context.

  • Familiarity with digital analytics tools and campaign reporting.

  • Strong understanding of digital platforms and formats.

  • Proactive and collaborative problem-solver with a team-first mindset.

  • Comfortable leading partner meetings and advising internal and external teams.

  • Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to navigate complex organisations.

Location: Allianz Stadium HQ (Hybrid working available)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours per week)
Salary: £53,000–£57,000 per annum
Reports To: Marketing Director
