EVENTS MARKETING MANAGER: PROFESSIONAL TRIATHLETES ORGANISATIONS (PTO)

About the Role

The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) is seeking an experienced Events Marketing Manager to lead the marketing strategy and execution for a global portfolio of PTO events. This maternity cover role focuses on driving age group registrations, increasing spectator attendance, and growing merchandise sales within the mass participation space.

In addition to campaign leadership, the role will serve as the primary account lead for key federation and marketing partnership relationships, including national governing bodies, regional federations, and local organising committees (LOCs). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering shared success across complex stakeholder groups with professionalism, clarity and precision.

This position is a 12-month fixed-term contract and is based at PTO’s London Canary Wharf office, with flexibility for hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Leadership

  • Lead marketing strategy, planning and delivery for 2–4 global PTO events.

  • Oversee integrated campaigns across digital, CRM, content, grassroots and paid media.

  • Manage the full event registration journey, including platform performance, UX, customer flows, and participant communications.

  • Brief and guide content development across organic/paid social, web, and email — including community storytelling and athlete-led narratives.

Partnership & Account Management

  • Act as the primary marketing contact for federations, LOCs, and commercial partners.

  • Build strong relationships and deliver collaborative planning aligned with shared objectives.

  • Coordinate deliverables, timelines and regular communications to ensure alignment and maximise impact.

Media & Channel Execution

  • Plan and activate paid social and search campaigns in partnership with agencies (e.g., Two Circles).

  • Manage third-party marketing relationships, including influencers, athlete channels, affiliate partners and regional promoters.

Performance & Reporting

  • Lead campaign reporting and performance analysis, including registrations, CPA, engagement and conversion rates.

  • Implement data-led optimisations across all channels.

  • Develop and execute participant retention strategies year-round.

  • Proven marketing experience in sports, events, or ticketing — ideally in fast-paced, growth-driven environments.

  • Strong background in managing complex stakeholder partnerships, including federations or sponsors.

  • In-depth understanding of event marketing tactics across digital, CRM, performance media, content and influencer channels.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver shared success for internal and external partners.

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work across multiple concurrent workstreams.

  • Strong communicator and relationship builder with a collaborative mindset.

  • Detail-oriented, data-literate, and creatively driven.

  • Confident working autonomously within a small, agile team.

  • Passionate about community-driven sports and building global event audiences.
