Role Overview:

The Commercial Director will oversee all commercial operations at Wrexham AFC, including partnerships, ticketing, retail, and hospitality. The role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in sports commercialisation and sponsorship, capable of driving performance, building high-value relationships, and delivering sustainable revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement effective, data-driven commercial and revenue strategies.

  • Lead and manage the commercial, ticketing, retail, and food & beverage teams, ensuring delivery against performance objectives.

  • Take ownership of sponsorship negotiations, from pitch through to contract signing, leveraging the club’s assets and brand profile.

  • Build strong relationships with partners to support renewals and identify upsell opportunities.

  • Optimise commercial revenue streams through strategic pricing, innovation, and cross-selling opportunities.

  • Set and manage annual commercial budgets in collaboration with finance.

  • Provide regular reporting and analysis on commercial performance, forecasting, market trends, and competitor activity.

  • Collaborate with marketing to ensure brand campaigns support commercial objectives.

  • Explore innovative initiatives to enhance commercial growth and fan engagement.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Significant experience in a senior commercial or sponsorship role—ideally within professional football or elite sport.

  • A proven track record of securing and delivering high-value commercial and sponsorship deals.

  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of partnership activation and brand strategy.

  • Experience across the full commercial spectrum, including ticketing, retail, hospitality, and naming rights.

  • Existing client network (UK and global) with a strong contact base.

  • Confident negotiator and closer of deals.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate opportunity into tangible growth.

  • Excellent relationship-building, presentation, and communication skills.

  • Results-driven, target-focused and commercially ambitious.

  • Fluency in Welsh would be an advantage.
