Role Overview:
The Commercial Director will oversee all commercial operations at Wrexham AFC, including partnerships, ticketing, retail, and hospitality. The role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in sports commercialisation and sponsorship, capable of driving performance, building high-value relationships, and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement effective, data-driven commercial and revenue strategies.
Lead and manage the commercial, ticketing, retail, and food & beverage teams, ensuring delivery against performance objectives.
Take ownership of sponsorship negotiations, from pitch through to contract signing, leveraging the club’s assets and brand profile.
Build strong relationships with partners to support renewals and identify upsell opportunities.
Optimise commercial revenue streams through strategic pricing, innovation, and cross-selling opportunities.
Set and manage annual commercial budgets in collaboration with finance.
Provide regular reporting and analysis on commercial performance, forecasting, market trends, and competitor activity.
Collaborate with marketing to ensure brand campaigns support commercial objectives.
Explore innovative initiatives to enhance commercial growth and fan engagement.
Candidate Profile:
Essential Experience & Skills
Significant experience in a senior commercial or sponsorship role—ideally within professional football or elite sport.
A proven track record of securing and delivering high-value commercial and sponsorship deals.
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of partnership activation and brand strategy.
Experience across the full commercial spectrum, including ticketing, retail, hospitality, and naming rights.
Existing client network (UK and global) with a strong contact base.
Confident negotiator and closer of deals.
Strategic mindset with the ability to translate opportunity into tangible growth.
Excellent relationship-building, presentation, and communication skills.
Results-driven, target-focused and commercially ambitious.
Fluency in Welsh would be an advantage.
