Tom Penford

After being released by his boyhood club, Bradford City, Tom Penford faced the brutal reality that many athletes encounter - stepping away from the sport that had shaped his entire identity, with little direction or support. In this honest and reflective conversation, Tom opens up about the emotional and practical challenges that came with leaving football behind and the daunting task of building a new career from scratch.

Through perseverance, curiosity and a natural desire to keep growing, Tom found his footing in business consultancy, landing a role at PwC, where he enjoyed real success. Today, he runs his own strategic innovation agency. He shares the lessons he learned along the way: the importance of transferable skills, building confidence outside of sport, and surrounding yourself with people who believe in your potential.

Tom also reflects on how a platform like MOJOE could have completely transformed his transition - offering him the guidance, mentorship and career tools he desperately needed at that critical crossroads.
